Crusade Eden Book 2 Tony Monchinski 9781934861332 Books

Very good contiunation of Eden, MUCH better proofreading and editing in this one. There were still some mistakes, but all in all, considering the condtion of the first book, they were barely noticeable in this one.

I liked the characters, I liked the story, and I liked the continuity. Great effort from this author.

I did NOT, however, like the jumping around in time periods. I found myself having to go back and reread certain parts to ensure that I continued with the story. The first book was the same way, but it did not seem as distracting because the author was laying out the story, creating the world, etc., and going back in time for each character to get their "story" was necessary. In this book, this tactic does not work as well.

Very glad I read it, and recommend it for people who have read Eden.

Crusade Eden Book 2 Tony Monchinski 9781934861332 Books Reviews

This book starts off with some amazing zombie warfare....it grabs you and not let you put the book down.....I even had o stop and let my son read some parts of it just to hear him say WOW......the rest of the book follows the storyline of two groups traveling in a zombie infected landscape....after the occurrences of he first Eden book. I enjoyed his book although I must admit I liked book 1 better. I'm still looking onward to the third book which is on my waiting list...
I loved this follow up to Eden....my favorite zombie novel of all time. The story was easy to follow and the character development was great. Heroes make tough decisions in tough times and that's what you'll get here. It's a rollercoaster ride worth taking.

On another note, Tony Monchinski answered an email I sent to him. He tells me he just sent the third book in the series to Permuted Press. Permuted has told him it'll be out in 2011. Can't wait.
I agree with other reviews that the opening zombie battle was way too long.... really it was probably three times longer than it needed to be. How many ways to explain killing hordes of zombies for 30+ pages. That was probably my biggest problem with the book. Although there were jumps around in time/place, this was told in a much more linear fashion than the first Eden. Once again very solid plotline and interesting turns. I think anyone who liked the first book will like this one as well. I'm looking forward to the 3rd in the series.
I completely enjoyed the first Eden novel. I loved the character development and how the book moved through time. I was truly waiting in anticipation for book two of this series and was excited when I heard it would soon become available. Eden Crusade was WONDERFUL! Some of the original characters from book one that I enjoyed the most took staring roles in the second book. The action was nearly non stop and the book took what seemed to me a logical course to completion. Dont get me wrong, the book wasnt at all predictable. I was surprised and at times saddened but always looked forward to the next page. Very well done Tony. I cant wait for book three.

Thank you for all your hard work.

Tom
I feel that Eden is one of the best zombie novels I have ever read so I was looking forward to Crusade with great expectations, unfortunately they were not fulfilled. The book opens with a 25 page-long zombie battle that just gets monotonous and maybe a little silly. When that is finally over we get back to our group of friends who had left Eden at the end of the last book. The story from there on is just not very good. What the author does to Buddy, one of the best characters of the original novel is just sad. I won't say anymore but if you (like me) loved the Buddy character you will not be happy. Bear takes center stage and I like the Bear character but he really is not interesting enough to carry the book. Most of the characters meet sad and unhappy ends and it just lacks the depth and excitement of the first book and seems to just kind of ramble around until reaching a depressing conclusion. Don't get me wrong, it is still readable and probably better than most zombie fiction out there. The author can write but this book is nowhere near a good as Eden.
A few people had some rather harsh reviews of the first EDEN book. Most focused on the editting and typos that popped up here and there. What killed me about those reviews was the felling that these people missed an amazing story. The first story ( EDEN ) was grab you by the balls gripping. A story that was charecter driven and wonderfully told. EDEN 2 Crusade, lost non of the action or amazing writting that came in the first book. What it lost was only the little things that were nit-picked to death from these upset reviewers of EDEN.
This crushing new tail of life in hell should make everyone happy! Tony has grown as a writer and more directly as a story teller. From page one you are tossed into a all out war, you can feel the heat of the fight. The smell of death and the sweet sweet ting of utter fear. All the people you loved from the first book return to keep your dreams full of terror, along with a few new faces. This second book in the Eden story is in a word " DARK ". The picture that is stunningly painted for you, is depressing in feel yet pinched with a slight dash of hope. I was amazed at the way Tony could give so much life to his charecters and at the same time keep the plot flowing like a raging river.
This stunningly bleak world is only overpowered by the endurance and righteousness of its charecters. It is easy to want to have feeling for the people Tony has created.
In short, Eden 2 Crusade is a worthy addition into the Zombie world of books. It is more than this though. It is a heavy, thick and powerfull look into the minds and motives of people. For that it is much more than just a ZOMBIE book. Tony and the wonderfull people over at PERMUTED PRESS have again hit the target spot on with this wonderfully evil tale!!!! I really can't wait to see what other storys and madness Tony has waitting for us. He has trully grown not only as a writer but as a person before our eyes.
